Q: How long does it take you to finish a painting?
A: A large painting (36″ x 48″ and up) can take me a month or more to complete. An 8″ x 10″ usually takes a day or two. This doesn’t include the time I spend on research and photography, or the time I spend on paintings that turn out to be duds. It can be a hit and miss process, and not everything makes the cut!
Q: Do I need to frame my painting?
A: Not necessarily. Oil and acrylic pieces that are 18″ x 24″ and larger are painted on canvas that is stretched on 1 1/2″ deep “Gallery Style” frames. Smaller work is stretched on 3/4″ frames. In both cases the painted image wraps around the sides, and can be displayed as is. I often leave larger paintings unframed, but usually prefer to enhance smaller ones with simple floating frames. Watercolours should be matted and framed with glass.
Q: Do you provide framing?
A: I have access to floating frames in black, white, and natural for most standard sizes. Contact me for prices and details.
